Tuesday Speed Work

Tuesday: 5.45pm at Caroline Bay Soundshell. Check for changes or cancellations on the Run Timaru Facebook. In the summer months we meet at the Aorangi athletics track!

Coaches and experienced runners will be there to provide support to runners of all abilities. Speed work helps to get more comfortable at faster paces and improve running times. An interval run workout is given by the coach usually with shorter repetitions (200m, 400m, 800m or 1k reps). Everyone warms up as a pack and then completes the intervals at their own effort or in a group with similar ability. 


Thusday Long Run

Co-ordinator: Ben Wreford

Thursday: 6:00pm at the Frontrunner Timaru shop. Approximately 1 hour running on various courses around Timaru town. There are 6km, 8km, and 10km loops fit for various paces. Courses are posted on the members Messenger chat beforehand. A great way to build consistency and distance throughout the week!


Saturday Tempo Run
Coach Co-ordinators: Jesse Kempf and Dan Cunningham

This run is for those aiming to improve their running whether you are an 800m runner or an ultra runner, social or competitive. This group is suitable for athletes of all abilities wanting to improve their running times.

Saturday: 8:30am at Caroline Bay Beach Volleyball Courts. Warm up as a group, and then move to interval training or go to Parkrun. Interval training format is the same as Tuesday, however typically it is a workout with longer reps. Coaches will buddy people up so athletes of similar ability are together. Workouts are usually based off time, i.e. 3 x 10 min, 6 x 4 min, finish back at the carpark, stretch, chat, warm down.


Fitness on Saturday

Saturday: Low intensity, easy running, jogging or walking at talking pace. Approximately 1 hour. Various courses around Timaru town. Currently meeting at West End Park 8am for 6km, 8km and 10km loops at conversational pace followed by coffee or breakfast at a cafe. Courses are posted beforehand on the members Messenger chat, and the venue may change from time to time.



Please note; anyone is welcome to attend all club runs and you do not have to stick to one particular group.
